The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme is a visa program that allows employers in regional, remote or low population areas to sponsor workers from overseas to fill skilled vacancies in their business that they have been unable to fill locally.

RDA Central West is the Regional Certifying Body for the Central West NSW region which encompasses the 11 Local Government Areas of: Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin. Please check location before applying.

A map of all RDA Regions across NSW is available here.

What we do as a Regional Certifying Body?

The only Visa that RDA Central West currently certifies is Visa subclass 187 – Direct Entry Stream. This visa gives the skilled migrant permanent residency in Australia. Businesses are required to provide two years full-time employment to the migrant. For further information visit border.gov.au

The Direct Entry stream is for:

  • people who have been nominated by their employer under the Direct Entry stream
  • people who have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia
  • temporary residents who do not qualify for the Temporary Residence Transition stream.

Information provided in the application will be used to determine if the three requirements under the Migration Regulations 5.19(4) as outlined on DIBP Form 1404 following criteria is satisfied:

  1. There is a genuine need for a paid employee in a business operated by the employer that is actively and lawfully operating in a Regional area of Australia.
  2. The terms and conditions of employment are the same as those that would apply to an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident performing the same work in the same location.
  3. The nominated position cannot be filled from the local labour market.

RDA Central West provides advice for processing applications on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs. We consider applications from regional businesses who are applying to the Department of Home Affairs to sponsor a skilled migrant to fill a skill shortage or occupations in high demand.
