Indigenous Economic Development
Purpose:
The Indigenous Economic Development Officer is funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under the Indigenous Employment Program and seeks to increase the economic independence of Indigenous Australians through the facilitation of employment and economic development opportunities and activities.
IEDO Role/|Functions:
The Indigenous Economic Development Officer will achieve this through:
- Working with Indigenous people and their communities within the Central West;
- Identifying all Government services in the region which support Indigenous business development, identifying service gaps and developing strategies to fill those gaps;
- Working with local business development professionals and within established networks and through the establishment of effective working relationships with other identified stakeholders;
- Delivering information and training sessions that promote economic development and business creation to Indigenous clients as a means of self employment;
- Creating linkages to utilize existing support services for Indigenous business aspirants within the region;
- Building strong Industry relationships to build employment opportunities for Indigenous Australian’s; and
- Participating in relevant forums.
